In many countries all over the world, tomatoes are vegetables many people love to eat. They are an essential part of the Mediterranean cuisine culture, they can be prepared as a sauce for pasta or pizza and as a key ingredient in a mixed lettuce or a side dish. Tomatoes like the sun and the warm weather while they have problems to grow in cold and windy areas. They can be farmed only at certain latitudes, either in flat lands or close to the sea. Even though tomato plants are not delicate, it is important to respect some growing rules, most of all, to use specific machines to plant them without any damage and to maximise the yield. According to these aspects, the Ferrari Growtech tomato machines are designed specifically to obtain an effective transplants of this delicious vegetable.

Before transplanting the seedlings in the open field it is extremely important to take care of the plant raising in the green-house where each seed is placed in a tray-cell. When plants are starting to become approximately 15 cm high, the field transplant can start.  A very important detail about transplant is related to the plant spacing (distance from plant to plant on the same line) and the row width (distance from row to row). More specifically, tomatoes are usually grown at 150/200 cm (60”/80”) between the rows and 20/40 cm (8”/16”) between the plants (depending whether they are single line tomatoes or double-line tomatoes). The planting depth as well, is a very important aspect to care about. The Ferrari Growtech tomato transplanters are designed to guarantee maximum precision while they operate, which means constant distance and planting depth in order to obtain an ideal growth of the plants.

Taking care of these details is easier and quicker by using the Ferrari Growtech tomato transplanters that are available both in automated and semi-automated version. The first one, including models FUTURA and FUTURA TWIN, guarantees a top efficiency rate: just one operator to fit the trays in the planting robots. The plants are taken by the robot’s fingers and led to the ground.

The Ferrari Growtech semi-automated transplanters include the models FMAX, MULTIPLA, FPP EVO, FPA EVO and FLASH. These machines, as opposed to the automatic ones, imply a higher number of operators. Other than that, they can guarantee an ideal placement of the plants in the ground.

The automatic and the semi-automatic tomato transplanters were both designed to eliminate the so called “dead times” and to place the plants in the ground in the best way. Therefore, there will not be any damage to the plants and they will be able to raise in the best way and produce a good yield.
