One of the most important stages of cultivation is given by the transplant: the seedling, grown in the seedling-trays/boxes starting from seeds or cuttings, is transported into a new soil/land. This is a step that requires great attention. The transplant process, if carried out without care, can cause irreversible damage to the seedling, which can undergo a "transplant shock" and no longer produce the desired fruit. At this stage it is necessary to be precise, to ensure the correct distance and the right space for the transplanted seedlings, and to have the right tools for this purpose. This is precisely why Ferrari Growtech has designed a series of transplanters built specifically to meet every need, not only for the agricultural entrepreneur, but also for the seedling.
The transplanters are towed, driven or self-propelled agricultural machines, which allow the planting of seedlings coming from the seedling-trays. The task of these machines, in particular, is to open the furrow in the soil of destination, lay the seedling in the position and close the furrow with the foresight to compact the soil around the plant. These machines are used mainly in the fields of horticulture, floriculture and the cultivation of rice and tobacco.
The Ferrari Growtech transplanters allow:
- To maintain the seedling in an upright position during the transplant phase;
- Make the distance between one seedling and the other and the transplant depth accurate to the millimetre;
- Speed up the whole process and maximise hourly output.
Every single model of transplanters designed by Ferrari Costruzioni Meccanica presents different characteristics: in the catalogue, in fact, there are automatic machines, which significantly reduce labour costs, and semi-automatic, supported by the work of the operator. Depending on the result to be obtained and the peculiarities of the starting situation, it is possible to rely on transplanters of the following type:
